January At a Glance

There’s something about the new year that fills me with hope. A time to clear our clutter, reflect on our accomplishments, and how far we’ve come.

The first photo is me in 2016 - days after moving to Asheville, NC scared out of my mind and excited too for all the unknown that was ahead. That blondie had no clue she’d pack up again 7 months later and settle down in Charleston, SC where her art career would finally blossom.

My heart expands so much thinking about all that has changed since this photo was taken. I love how I spend my days for work and the people I am surrounded by. I am so grateful for how far I have come, forging my own path for my career. I cannot wait for whatever opportunities and experiences come my way next.

One of the things I am most looking forward to this year is my duet show with Teresa Roche at The Miller Gallery in June. Teresa is a Greenville, SC native and an artist I have looked up to and admired for years now. I was first introduced to her work while working at Miller and have been lucky enough to watch her career evolve. The textile element of her business is what I am most excited about incorporating into our show.

This month, I have released 12 new paintings, painted on a food truck, proposed a new mural installation and designed 4 new greeting cards, and started planning my first workshop. I’d say this year’s off to a pretty solid start!

To all of you who follow along, like, comment and share my work - thank you ❤️ I couldn’t do this without your love. Cheers to a fruitful new year!
