About the Collection:

Food has been the main theme of my artwork for over a decade now. Why do I go back to it time and time again? Each time I approach the subject, I have a different purpose. Sometimes I am fixated on painting food to look just like it does in real life. Sometimes I want to show repetition through how food is displayed for purchase. Other times, I want to suggest the narrative of where our food comes from through packaging design. Regardless of my approach, the universal thread is that food is our ultimate connector, no matter how it is presented.

The work I've created for this solo exhibition is about the transformative power of food. From the shelves of the grocery store to local farm stands on the corner, there are so many more stories around what we eat and where it comes from. I believe stories about food are a constant reminder that not only do we care about food, but we care about each other. Something that I believe we can all agree on (put best by Alice Waters) is that we want our food to nourish our children, strengthen our families, and build lasting communities. My paintings will highlight snapshots from my kitchen table and the farmers market. These moments will capture the beauty of everyday moments in what and how we eat.

Artwork will be available for purchase September 1, 2023 at themillergallery.com. Please direct inquiries to info@themillergallery.com.
